In the mid '60s, Pontiac's low oil pressure lights were set to come on below 3 or 4 psi, anything above that was good to go. Oil pressure does equal hp, I seen a distributor drive sheered off in a motor running 20w50 race oil.
Get that pan off before you worry your self sick, everybody has a engine go down every now and then so it's not the end of the world. I had one spin a bearing trying to get up on a trailer !
