I'm afraid you'll have to pull the oil pan to see what happened.
Maybe something left in the pan got sucked up against the oil pump screen. Maybe the pickup tube wasn't placed just right and wound up sucking some air. Just wild out in right field guesses on my part.
The only way to find out is to pull the pan and look at the pump assembly, the screen, and also the bearings.
