Hello, I am new to this forum and am building a 50 AD, I am to the point where I need to start making it streetable and would like recomendations on a 12v wiper system.

Kits are readily available & easy to install.

Yes there are differant kits, I was hoping for a reply with recomendations, the quality can vary alot when ordering stuff online.

Just to get you jump started a bit, you could go to the little search link at the top right of this page, and put in electric wiper . This will give you some ideas before more folks see this topic and chime in.

Welcome to the site,CptKaos.I installed a "Newport Electric"wiper in my truck.It just about installed itself.Two speed self park.About $180us

I have also used the New Port unit. It has worked flawlessly for the last 5 years now. I hereby recommend it! Shop around though, prices vary quite a bit between the different vendors,

cptkaos,I just installed the newport wiper motor this evening.I cussed it,only because i was laying in some awkward positions.It bolted in just fine.It came with a support bracket that mounted to the cross brace on the dash.It actually is designed to bolt where a factory clip is located.The factory clip holds the temperature cable.I just relocated the temp line clip.I'm going to make a bracket to hold the wiper switch on the bottom edge of the dash.The switch was going to be too tight of a fit under the dash against the wiper motor.I like my factory chrome switch,so decided to leave it in the dash.The newport wiper motor calls for upto 10amp fuse in an fuseable link.You can get it at any parts store.The wipers work great,they are two speed with park in the off position.I called my local 47-53 parts supplier and asked if they would match the Truck Shops price, They beat it by $3.00 .I would deffinetly reccomend the newport wiper motor ,it runs smoof .

Another tip, remove the speaker grille in the dash.You can gain some access through it.It will help you tremendously !!!

Bc52,the purple 52 you have in the gallery,is the electric wiper motor installed in this picture.My wiper arms are parking in the same position with my newport motor.I am hoping to get them to park more parallel to the windshield molding.The newport motor runs smoooooff !!!!

bowtietim,no the newport was not installed yet.When I got the truck the single speed motor did not self park.I would shut it off close as can then push them down when I got out.With the newport the arms park better but not equal.There is some play in the linkage.

I got mine from LMC Truck for $140. I also bought the wiper delay switch they offer for $55.
I haven't installed mine yet. Your truck looks great. Welcome to the stovebolt.

Ted, who makes the wiper motors that lmc sells. I looked at them,the brackets look a little different than the newport i bought. Just curious !!

Sorry I don't know, there is no indication as to manufacturor, a marketing secret no doubt. The motor does look well made, all steel, and is good and heavy. LMC's installation instructions say on the bottom that they are a reprint from the manufacturor's instructions. If any one has used them please chime in. I will installing mine shortly.

Ted, good luck and let us know how the lmc wiper motor works.I paid $22.00 more for the newport.It works great so far,but i have'nt used it yet"really used it".It will help taking the dash speaker grille trim off,you will gain access through the dash.

I installed the LMC 6v/12v wiper a little while ago and had to make one of the arms adjustable. The problem was probably "me." I opened the case and this motor has a big plastic gear. I think others are all metal. I've had no problems with it.
