Over the weekend I managed to get my hands on two Stovebolts to add to my collection. My collection currently consists of my '85 Chev Monte Carlo and my newly acquired '63(I believe) 3/4 ton Chevrolet cab and chassis and a '63(Again, I think) 1 Ton GMC cab and chassis. They aren't in the best shape but from what I've seen while trying to find a forum for these trucks, they're in a lot better shape than some. I'm looking into either putting these trucks together and making one badass truck or possibly restoring both. I'm a 21 year old fresh out of college so money is extremely tight and it will be a slow process. I'm hoping to have a daily driver by the summer. I want to do the basics right now. Decide if I want to piece one truck together and then from there, get power steering and brakes going as well as get them both running. The 1 ton from as far as I can tell was last running in '94. So it shouldn't be too difficult to get going. Any and all information would be great! Those trucks look like they're not too bad. I like that GMC. You'll find plenty of help on this site. Be sure to check out all the different forums here and ask your questions in the proper ones. The red Chevy is a 63 as you thought. One year only grill has good value. The GMC is harder to tell its year. It also is a 63. the 62 and older had a hydraulic clutch, this one has a linkage type. And the new for 63 engine. 64 and newer had the flatter windshield with the slope back "A" post. 66 had the new GMC letering in the grill.
Do I dare mention the nice 66 Canadian Mercury custom cab.
You will find lots of help on this site, a great bunch of guys and gals.
