The Generator is healthy and happy. Rating is 15 Volts, 60 Amps Continuous. I could weld with it. It cranks enough current to peg the meter on the test bench.
The Regulator is kicking my behind. My "Trucks" book doesn't go back into the 50's.
Any of the guru's know the correct gaps and adjustment procedures for an RGR 1960 E115 ? The regulator is rated the same as the Generator. 15V - 60A.
The unloader is working great, no run on hooked to the bench. The problem is getting it to load up. When I get the tension set so that a load brings it in, it goes to 18-22 Volts and pegs the bench tester at 120 Amps. We're talking smoking wires here.
Since American Bosch was sold down into South America, none of these parts seem to be available. (At least the PN's don't have any cross reference any more.) I've been unable to find the info I need to set it.
Any input? Any experience setting these up?

I try not to mess with the regulators, and they could probably do a better job at adjusting it properly. Good luck. Got any pics?

That's where we tried to melt down the test bench... I've decided to stick a one wire alternator on it. A whole lot less trouble, safer, cheaper, and I can pick it up with one hand! My digital camera is on the outs with my computer at the moment. As soon as I get tired of Ark-Linux, I'll stuff Core 6 or Vista back on and post something. Thanks for the reply! CJ | | |
