The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts 47 Loadmaster 1 1/2 ton wiring problems

Hi I'm just starting a resto of a 47 1 1/2 ton loadmaster that runs great when I can get enough juice to the starter. Does anyone have a link to a wiring diagram for this truck and a reputable supplier for a replacement harness? This has been far fixed too many times and has shorts or brittle wires everywhere!

Whatever I touch or test seems to break off and I'm flipping out!

Essentially it is the same as an AD model pickup or one ton except for the wire lenghts to the rear, perhaps the cab cluster lamls, etc. But as for the engine it is the same I'm sure. The wiring harness can be p[urchased at any of the usual vendors such as LMC, etc.

There was a guy that wanted to build one from scratch. By the time that he bought all of the wiring,connectors,fuse block,etc,he figured it would cost him almost double the price of a new harness.Hope this helps.

Pay attention to the battery and ground cables too especially if you are using 6 volts. Over the years previous owners would often replace these cables with the lighter gauge 12 volt cables that are unable to carry enough current to turn a 6 volt starter sufficiently. This and dirty connections can be the heart of most 6 volt staring system problems.
