I am using these taillights that have two wires

Do I still need to add a wire for the turnsignal? I am thinking the black wire is just a ground - but I am not electrical genius.

If you are ordering the lights, order the ones already fitted for what you need. You will not have to add any wires, there would be no place to add them to anyway. One of those wires is for the brake light which is the same bulb (or filament) used with turn signals. The other is for the running (park) lights. Ground is accomplished with the mounting of the housing.

The blue dot may be illegal, check with the local police. The glass lenses do not emit as much visibility as the plastic.

tail lights have 2 bulbs, or 2 filaments in a single bulb, one is for tail light [dimmer one], one for brake light [brighter one], so the 2 wires are for the 2 functions, the ground is via the bolts that mount the light to the bed .... if you want to add turn signals you need to 'insert' them into the brake light circuit or add separate lights

The turn signal switch determines whether you need separate lamps for the signals and brake lights.
