Love the vid's of Brutus! Keep 'em comin' "Ironclad"! Harbor Freight usually has a unit for sale for about $60-$100,depending on the model, capacity, etc. Not sure about the quality of the machines. I've had a die-grinder take a crap after less than a week,(maybe 5-hours of work),and then I've had a cheap sawsall, that's lasted over 3-years. For a dependable,multi-media "blaster,I'd personally go with Eastwood. They also carry "Rust Inhibitor", "Rust Reformer",and the top-coat called "Chassis Black". I personally prefer "Chassis-Saver",by Magnet Mfg. See the article in the "Links" section here in the "Bolt".Stacy David hosts this show called "GEARS". In this episode,he uses "Magnet"'s "Chassis-Saver",to under-coat Ted Nugent's 4X4 (Not G.M.) But the point is... This product has been used by several municipalities, for over 10-yearsand has proved itself in the extremest of conditions. The BEST part is, it ADHERES to rust! You just sand off the "barnacles",and wipe the metal with lacquer thinner,or mineral spirits, with a clean,lint-free cloth. When the chemical evaporates, you're ready to paint! You don't need to go over everything 3 times. You apply one coat, and you're done! Just don't get this stuff on your skin!! I apply a thin coat of baby oil,to my hands, arms, and face, and then you simply wipe it off with paper towels. i know from my 1st experience! I don't want to scrub my face like that ever again Keep-up the good work, and let the vid's keep comin'! THANKS!!
Thanks wetwilly! One of the reasons I decided to do these videos was to keep me going. I figured, "well, the people watching will tan my hide if I give up", LOL.....Thanks for the information, really. I was going to start asking questions here on the bolt, but I think you have already answered most of them
Make sure you remove items to be sand blasted, do not sand blast items on the truck. The sand/powder has a way of finding it's way into all of the moving parts and will tear up seals, bearings, kingpins, spring pins etc.

Hmmm Mike, I never thought of that! I was hoping to do a body on resto since the truck is in good shape. Perhaps I better rethink this thing a bit. Thanks for the info!
Mike B. hit the nail directly on the head! Thanks,Mike!! The only way that I would perform a "blast-job",would be on a frame-off restoration, with EVERYTHING dis-assembled. That's why I opted to go with the one-step "Chassis Saver". This product is guaranteed, and the prep work is way less time-consuming than trying to get everything shiny, before coating with three different chemicals,to achieve the end results. I used 3-gallons,on my 6500,so-far,and I'll need about another 1/2-gallon,to finish the job. The paint isn't cheap,($112.00/Gal.),but considering the price of a new sand-blaster,the cost of the media, and the cost of the 3 different products,( offered by Eastwood, and other similar brands),I think that this is the most cost-effective option available. Not to mention the time saved by only having to paint everything just once!! I never tried P.O.R.15,but I've seen positive posts about this product here in the forums,as well. Just my 2-cents. Thanks!
In my former business (heavy truck shop mods/repairs/equipment)we did quite a bit of sandblasting and I always rented a mobile contstruction compressor and blasting equipment. It was a lot better and a lot less expensive than owning and maintaining a large enough blaster and my shop compressor was in use nearly all the time anyway. The media can be expensive depending on what you use but that is an expense regardless.
ps...Iron Clad, I use to make tanks and mounting parts like that.
Well, there goes the sandblasting idea, LOL.....Thanks for the information guys, I really appreciate it! Well wetwilly, I'm going to research your idea! Thanks!
The only product I know of that cna be blasted on an assembled vehicle with no damage is Soda...it will take the paint off, but not the rust and it will not hurt chrome or glass.
