Now I have 1 video,(of 3) of the '58 Viking 50 L.C.f. semi-tractor. I took measurements,(outside r.f.-outside l.f,to check fender clearance difference between this truck, and the '55 5700 L.C.F.,to see if the '55 sheet-metal would "fit" the '58 frame.(71" on BOTH trucks!!) Axles are the same width! new pic's and vid's in "Photobucket"-when I can get the up-load to work correctly! got the measurements on video,of the '55 5700,but the '58 Apache 50's fail @ 99%! Hopefully later this evening??

My '58 Viking vid's got deleted, somehow! Will take pic's in near future. Royal PAIN!! Been working on this thing since Noon, and I SHOULD have gone FISHIN'! Too late now...Almost 6:00 P.M.! At least you guys can see the axle widths are the same for the 2 trucks. '58 Viking has 9:00X20;00 rubber,b.T.W.

Willy,

I assume you want to move ALL of the sheet metal (cab and front clip) from one frame to the other...

Both trucks should have the same front axle with number 3711405 forged into them. So the measurements would be the same.

The parts book says 55 thru 57 share the same frame and 58/59 share the same. I've never had one of each to compart side by side, but if I did, I'd be comfirming the frame drop between the axle and bumper were the same. Any other issues can be worked out, like hole locations for the core support.

Flickr.com is very easy, very elegant, professionally managed, without any of the BS advertising banner crap -- and it's free.

Thanks for the info,Mike! The '55 sheet-metal,(front-clip/cab,need quite a bit of work, but could be done,piece-by-piece,since it'll be a frame-up,which would make it much easier to access all of the brake, steering, and suspension components,as well as a more thorough job of everything else. I may have access to a "Goodwrench" '79 350/4-bolt-main,truck engine."Crate" engine was installed, about 6-months before this truck was retired. former owner's son claims it has WAY less than 10,000 miles on it,probably closer to 5,000! Turned it over by hand, last Summer! If it wasn't for the wasps,we would've tried to get it running, but we plan on making a video,(on "Youtube"),later this Spring. Truck is 1970 Chevrolet C-50 moving van, sunk to the axles, since sitting since 1980! Thanks to "53moneypit,and Flying Zebra,as well! I'm ready to try something different. Do you know if it is possible to transfer pic's,vid's from P.B,to P.T.,Flikr? Thanks!!
