Based on recommendations from the good folks here at "The 'Bolt", I have been running this brand in my 1955 235 c.i. since I took ownership of my truck in 2009. I am now looking to re-stock my shelves and can not find it! All I can locate is Rotella T1...has the packaging/marketing of it changed? Is it the same as what I had been using? Better? Worse? Please advise. I want and do take good care of my engine! THANKS.

pretty much the same quality with somewhat updated formulation, things changed a few years ago concerning the zinc content, but I believe T1 still has some, shouldn't make any difference for you

I've been using the Rotella T SAE 40 in my Detroits, have had no trouble finding it at the local oil distributor or truck stop. It may have been a year or so that I last bought a case.

Bill's right, the oil has changed, same with non-diesel oil. It shouldn't make any difference in your application. Your engine is well broke-in by now.

You can run 15W-40 Shell Rotella triple T. The zinc formula has not changed in the triple T. I think the T-1 was/is a formula for Detroit Diesels.

I checked at NAPA today, the old familiar "Rotella T" is no longer available, it is now listed as T-1.

Joe_H posted this link in another thread.
> Lubricate Classic Engines

It discusses Lucas Hot Rod & Classic Car Motor Oil SAE 10W-40.
> Lucas weights and description (No straight weights)
> Lucas specs, zink, phosphorous

Lucas is real proud of their oil: $40/5-Qt bottle at O'Reilly. Rotella T-3 is about $18/gal, plus extra qt, at Advance Auto Parts.

I couldn't find any recent ZDDP info on Rotella. Shell says that it can be used with modern emission equip.
