Have 1950 Chev PU. Trying to complete missing stuff on doors. I have the "on door" weatherstrip ready to put on, but there's a lower door retainer required on the bottom of each door on interior side of doors. It is a narrow metal piece that is attacheh with metal screws to door panel and it is shaped to a weird config. The rubber weatherstripping carries continuously around the door and across the bottom of door and it is glued in place. Does anybody know what that retainer is for and how it interacts with weatherstripping? Where does it sit in relation to weatherstripping? I like the trim piece as it adds a finished look, but don't see it's purpose and how it mates to seal.

BTW, I don't see screw holes at the bottom of my door. Was this strip even used on 1950 year trucks?

I also have a nasty rattle only with window down inside door somewhere as I accelerate faster. What are the anti rattle window seals and where do they go in door? Will that typically resolve issue? Are these seals called something else as I can't find them in any parts supplier as anti-rattle seals.

If you're referring to the fuzzy strips that run along the bottom of the window opening I've heard them called a number of things, fuzzies, cat whiskers, beltline felts, etc.. I believe the "correct" name is window sweep that could vary as well. Most vendors will know what you're referring to.

This should answer your question on placement. Somebody may have filled the holes, they are small. And yes 1950 trucks came with the retainer.

This is my 52 panel. Maybe this helps to go along with Brads.
Also, a serch will probably turn up a good bit of stuff. I think Denny G. has some pics to.

EDIT: when the piece is installed correctly you will notice a small "cup" effect in the weatherstipping and you can see where it fits to the body and makes a seal... to keep out wind/water/noise ect. I will admit most trucks I see this piece is missing and most weather stripping missing on the bottom or just glued back on. A couple of my holes were "big" so I stepped up a size on a couple of the screws but you really can't tell it on mine. Hope this helps.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Your 50 should have a fuzzy attached here
...pic...
I got a replacement from truck shop in orange Counterparts brand
It's part of a kit

Your rattle with the window down could be the regulator. Check o see if your leather rollers are intact.

Good luck
