it will be a couple of years till I get it installed. (I still gotta pay myself back for IT yet) but when an opportunity like this arises, you gotta take advantage of it. It was more like an interview than a sale, the fella was very concerned as to what I was going to do with his baby. I'm pretty sure if I had said I was going to race it, he wouldn't have sold it to me.
He has another one that he has installed on HIS engine, I don't really know much about it, besides he is very well respected in the 12 port community, he says it passed magnafluxing but I am going to get it done again just to be sure, he says if I'm not happy he will give me my money back. And for the price of it I am definitely going to get my name in the the 12 port registry.
15 bolt chevy, the GMC's are easy to find. I guess I should qualify that, I haven't seen a wayne head for the GMC yet, but so far I found a brand new fontana/skinner for $4500, the fella wouldn't budge on the price. The other was the last of the arias version of the howard 12 port, brand new, for $2500. If anyone is interested. the howard may still be for sale. I almost bought it, but since I have no GMC to use it on, it wouldn't have made much sense. I do however have a 216 to use the wayne head on.....
it is a wayne 12 port head. Look it up, they are like the holy grail, I have been trying to find one since 1984. There were only about 125 of them produced, mostly for full race applications, bonneville, things like that. Many of them have been broken due to such treatment, so each passing year they get harder and harder to find. And, no I won't say how much I paid for it.
And notice its an iron version not the more common aluminum version, but it do have a funny intake and see the standard exhaust manifolds in the background--'way cool!!!
It is a 12 port head for the early 5 cyl eng, 6 intake ports on one side and 6 exhaust ports on the other. A rare find and a gooe performes on the older motors. Made the old 6 in a row run with the old V/8 flatties.
