The Stovebolt Site Forums The Side Lot Southern Bolters Florida Gabfest coming March 23

I'm starting this topic to invite all Florida and Southern 'bolters to the 2nd annual Florida Gabfest on March 23,2013.
The plan is to meet at Daytona International Speedway for the spring Turkey Run.
When I get a good count of who is interested I will apply for club parking so We can all park in one area.
Check your calenders and put this on your schedule. Let me know as soon as you can.

Welcome to Stovebolt.

You and I talked last Sat at the Cops & Cars for Kids show. Wayne is the guy at the show with the blue '38 one-ton truck that a lot of kids sat in to have their pictures taken. Looking forward to seeing you at the Gabfest.

I'll drive to Daytona from downtown Orlando on 17/92 then on SR 415 at Sanford. It's a neat "old Florida" drive. Not a lot of places for the hot rodders to pass my old slow truck, but they should slow down and enjoy the scenery anyway! Maybe some of us can caravan together. I'll leave early and hope to get there when the track opens.

Help me out here fellows. I looked at the ad so what is our intentions. Meet up somewhere before going to the turkey run or meet somewhere inside at a vendor spot..... anyone planning to register their vehicle....just wanting to know. I'm HOPING to make it and would like to drive down in something besides "mama's Buick"!! Still not sure yet.

Alvin, I plan to apply for club parking once there is a good count. Some of us will meet early and travel together. I hope to becable to notify everyone where our parking will be inside the track.

I plan to pre register. This will let me in for both days.

I would love to caravan over. I am trying to figure out my route. Hard to get to Daytona from Lakeland at 50 mph! Any suggestions?

We are coming over on Friday (from Dunedin - west of Tampa) and spending the night at the Days Inn just down the street from the Speedway.

We are wimping on the drive over and going to trailer it over. I want to get some parts for the '41. We are tentativly planning on driving up to St. Augustine for dinner on Friday if anyone is going to be town early and wants to join us. We'll take the scenic route up the coast.

Jeeze! I looked the map. There ain't no direct route from Lakeland to Daytona.

The best road is probably 92 to Haines City, then 17/92 through Orlando to Sanford, and finish on 415 to Daytona.

Or you could try 33 from Polk City to Clermont, then 19 to Mount Dora, 44 to Deland, and finish on 92 to the track. No idea about the quality of the roads.

Perhaps you can catch a ride in johntsmith's trailer!!

Today I spoke with 'Stinky' at Daytona Street Rod club that is the host club of the Turkey Run.
Club parking is on the motorhome spaces. The spaces are $20 and hold 4 cars. This makes it $5 per vehicle, in addition to the $25 entry fee.
As of now we have 7 people coming.
He recommends that we pre register through the website.

They will make us a sign for 'Stovebolt.com forum' provided we can use 3 motorhome spaces, which means we need a couple more to commit.
So guys and girls, encourage your chevy truck friends to join us.

We have until the end of Feb. to register club spaces.

Outstanding! If we get close to 12 trucks committed, I will buy an extra pad in case we get some last minute stragglers. Don't wanna leave anyone behind!

BTW, Stinky is sending the club parking registration to me.

I registered online. There is not a provision for paying for the club parking.

I will pay the club parking fee and collect from everyone at the gabfest.

There's gonna be a wolf in our midst at the Gabfest. Hope you don't mind, I asked my buddy, Mickey Bradford, to park with us. We usually go to the fall and spring turkey runs together. His Chevy truck looks a little different to ours. Be gentle.

Yeah, thats the same routes I came up with. I may throw her on the trailer and do it that way. I just hate having to find a place to park it and then loading and unloading. I may have a friend coming with me, he's not a 'bolter but he has a really nice little Dodge. I will let you know for sure so we can reserve space.

They have free trailer parking at the Speedway, but I'm leaving mine at the hotel.

I was actually thinking of trailering it part way and driving in. I'm waiting to see how many of my friends are going before I make that call. I would much rather drive it!

I received conformation of my registration today.

It's getting close to when I have to submit the request for club parking.

Everyone please speak-up and declare if you are going or not.

Got mine yesterday in the mail, looking forward to it.

Wayne, count me in. I will be bringing two trucks. My friend with the Dodge is not coming but I have another friend bringing his '64 Chevy. Even better!! We've been thrashing on it for two weeks. Almost ready!

Man! I would make it but I'm on vacation to Iowa that week to visit my folks.

Today I mailed off the club parking request.

I asked for 4 RV pads. That should park 16 cars. I plan to bring a 10x10 canopy to provide some shade. One more might be good to have also. We should be able to park 15 with the canopies.

My neighbor Barry Lash is planning to join us with his vehicle.

Food and drinks are available on site although I plan to bring some liquid refreshment.

Only 19 days left!

I received the club parking passes today. We have 16 passes.

I am holding 2 of them for my neighbor and myself.

Please PM me your address and how many passes you need.

I will mail them to you with directions where to enter the speedway and where our parking is.

We have great parking, especially for those of you that are taking in the swap meet.

We have extra parking passes for those of you that decide at the last minute to attend.

Come to Daytona Beach next week end. The largest swap meet in the southeast is happening at Daytona International Raceway. There will be over 3000 cars in the show grounds and lots in the car corral for sale.

I have parking passes for the Florida Gabfest we are holding there.

I will be there (sans truck) still in process for such a long ride maybe next spring? Where to meet? Count. Me in!

I'm bringing a small table-top gas grill. Anybody have a table that I can set it on? Card table size.

I believe that Chris from Palm Coast may stop in to see us. He has a good looking original '56. I don't think that he is joined Stovebolt.com. We gotta do some recruiting.
