Here is the final result of the restoration I just completed on my
Curtis 80-gallon, 3-cylinder, 2-stage, 5HP air compressor.
I bought it on Craiglist for $75 and it had a 3-phase motor and a bad high pressure cylinder wrist pin causing a knock. A new Baldor 5 HP L1430T motor, complete overhaul of the pump, new electricals and a host of specialty features and it is running and running smooth and slow...around 968 rpm.
The specs are 17.4 SFCM @ 175 psi. It pumps great and is quite quiet even for a 3-cylinder "Y" configuration.
Though operational, next on deck is a custom motor sheave & pump pulley cover...to cover the drive belts and pulleys and a 2-stage air cooling stsyem that will go between the output of the high pressure cylinder and the input check valve on the tank...
