Can anyone explain how the 216 on the ton & half is governed?

Would raising the RPM range to that of a car or light truck, get me closer to 55mph? Running 48 @ 2900 now.

3200 rpm would be close to 55 mph.

My 38 is not governed, I don't know if it was removed or just never had one. It was able to keep up with traffic when I had it tagged if I was willing to push it that hard.

I don't think any of the old Bolts are governed Gric, it's your limitation based on your rear gear ratio and RPM of the emgine.

The reason I ask is, I'm not sure if its governed or not. The 38 specification manual says the 1.5 ton is governed. I bought the truck from a friend who wasn't driven it in 8 years. The RPM and speed info comes from him. Upon closer inspection, I see it has a Tilltson carb also.

larger trucks were likely to have governors - if you have one it should be obvious, an odd looking thing pancaked between the carb base and the manifold ... regardless if you have one or not, keeping the revs below 3000 would be advisable
