Would raising the RPM range to that of a car or light truck, get me closer to 55mph? It was able to keep up with traffic when I had it tagged if I was willing to push it that hard. | | | | Joined: Sep 2012 Posts: 170 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2012 Posts: 170 | I don't think any of the old Bolts are governed Gric, it's your limitation based on your rear gear ratio and RPM of the emgine. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | Governers were optiomnal starting in 1935 (if I remember correctly). The 38 specification manual says the 1.5 ton is governed. I bought the truck from a friend who wasn't driven it in 8 years. The RPM and speed info comes from him. Upon closer inspection, I see it has a Tilltson carb also. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | larger trucks were likely to have governors - if you have one it should be obvious, an odd looking thing pancaked between the carb base and the manifold ... regardless if you have one or not, keeping the revs below 3000 would be advisable
