My name is Steve and I live in Summerland BC. I don't have a truck but I do have a 62 Pontiac Laurentian wagon with a 261 in it. We have had the car for about 5 years now and it has been a lot of fun. With three young daughters it became necessary to move from our 62 2 door HT to the wagon. The original 6 is untouched except for a mini HEI from Langdons and a set of Fentons. The spare 261 that came with the wagon has just returned from the machine shop where it was transformed into a Cadillac stroker. It now uses 292 Rods and Cadillac pistons. When the motor goes back in the car it will be backed by a 700r4 with the help of an adapter plate also from Langdons. An Offy tri-power intake is already bolted up and progressive linkage for the Rochesters is in the works. I am currently working on the front of the motor trying to get it set up for power steering. Not easy to find two groove balancers and brackets for these 6's to mount pump above generator. I am always looking for parts and advice and this place looks like a promising location for both.

Thanks Curt for that link, I had not seen that before. A nice looking piece but way out of the budget. I found DamperDudes.net while doing a search and after contacting them I have sent my old single pulley balancer and they will machine a 292 double pulley unit to fit for $149. Ron at DamperDudes answered my email right away and said that once they receive my balancer they will have the new one built and shipped in a day.

Hi Steve, welcome. My engine is also a 261 out of a Canadian Pontiac, excellent engine. Dad used to have an old Laurentian too, it was a '59 but the engine was quite tired by the time he was able to afford it.

Str8six, thanks for the update on your ride. Question;
I was told that Canadian 261" 6cyls could run hydraulic
lifters. Can you verify this?

Welcome Steve. I have a 55 one ton with the 261cid. and have just found a second engine to up grade my new 62 C-10 and set aside the 235cid.

It will be interesting to learn more about your wagons driveline.
