The threads, both female and male are worn, so when I start the 52 half-ton, I have to be careful of the male post falling out onto the floor. If I want to be able to take it on and off while restoration in progress, how do I fix it, to save the old nicely worn-looking original parts. (previous fix, many years ago was to wrap threads with some steel wool and screw it back on.)
thanks, Brad

Agreed! Simple to do and permanent. Or try to find a used assembly.

Thank you, for suggestion. I will inspect male side to see if there is enough thread left to screw into helicoil fix?

I suppose you could add weld material to the (male) foot pedal post and use a die to rethread to proper size (or a size that will work).
