There seems to be a lot of backlash so I assume this is the problem. It's driving me nuts, and my neighbor tells me not to tighten up the clearance because it will just wear out faster.
I was thinking of R&R the whole rear end bearings because I am driving this truck daily.
What do you guys think? R&R it? Tighten up the clearance? I'd also take the driveshaft out and check u-joints close. I changed the rear end lube, all looked good (what I could see). Like Don says pull the cover & see what you have. You can buy the whole set in a kit. It comes withthe shaft, side gears, & pinion gears. If it uses trust washers they will be inclded.
