For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 25 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 25 | I have a 1946 chevy truck that had a newer 235 placed in it. I bought it and the fan was off the truck, as it had went thru the roof. I found a fan off a 52 fireturck locally, but now it hits the lower pulley. Previous owner would of had to have a spacer on it, but I cant find one with a 1 inch center for water pump. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks bill | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | The best thing for you to do is get one of Pre 68 Daves water pump adaptors to raise the water pump higher on the engine. It uses a early 235 or 216 water pump and puts the pump near the center of the rad.He sells them on E-Bay for 40.00 bucks.I've got one on my engine and we just put one on my cousins "new" engine and they work great.

Did a Google on fan spacers and got ton of results. The fan I ended up using is from a 56' V8 Chevy with the aforementioned spacer kit on a 55' 235. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | I have just used washers, and/or bent the blades a little. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,971 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,971 | I have just used washers, and/or bent the blades a little. Not sure I would be bending the blades. It could throw it off balance. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | You're probably right.
I've likely spent too much time working on my T, where it's okay to do things like file the bearing caps to tighten up the clearances!

Ill also make sure I dont have it on backwards( I dont think that is the case) Thanks all! Bill | | |
