Casey, good to hear from you and I sure hope you can make it. I cook up a mean hambuger (made with Sirloin) and hotdogs!

Thanks for checking in. It'd be nice if you and Warner (cvett) could both dirve your 40 and his 46. Looking forward to meeting you and sharing some stories.

Achipmunk, I'm really lookin' forward to the Southern Stovebolt get-together. One question:

I run "year of manufacture" plates on my '51 burb. The rule in NC is you can do this as long as you have the "antique vehicle" plates on board somewhere. Am I likely to get into trouble if I run down to SC with these plates? Or should I put the issued plates back on for the drive?

Kurt, I think you will be just fine using your year of manufacturing plates as its fine in your state of residence. I also believe if you got pulled over you would be fine as long as you have the "antique plates" with you.

The Reunion is coming fast........!!

I'm just outside Mooresville. I've got a 52 3100 that's was running when I parked it back in 95. I'm just getting started to get it back on the road to be my daily driver.

Chad,

What a beautiful truck and in the snow, too. I have a 1958 Apache 1/2 ton stepside I bought in 1986 soon after my daughter was born. The story goes something like this:

My plan was to have running and driveable (I towed it home form where I bought it) when my daughter started first grade. I ended up taking it completely, and i do mean completely apart, starting with the engine in 1986/1987. That started my frame-off restoration project. I retained my truck through my divorce and have relocated it twice since 1999/2001 and now have it in the garage, garage attic, and storage building where i have lived since 2001. I am finally able to start working on it after purchasing some needed equipment (MIG welder, compressor, etc). my wife is very encouraging of me to work on it so we can go visit some of the local car shows in the Raleigh area and take it out for Sunday drives. My daughter, now 26, kids me about having it driveable when she gets married. No announcements in the forseeable future, but, I',\m getting busy with my old truck.

Best of luck to you.

John_H,

It depends where you are, but the one in SC everyone is buzzing about may be a better bet. Look around in the Southern Stovebolters area and you'll find the thread. You can also post in parts wanted and see what turns up.

Good luck and best wishes,

Les

Hello to the NC bolters. I have moved up here from Flordia and sold my old 1961 Long bed Custom cab a few years back. I am looking for a new 60-66 Chevy long bed. I put an ad on the trucks wanted section of the forum. Let me know if there are any shows coming up I should attend to look for my new truck, or if any of you have any leads. I look forward to meeting some of you and talking trucks.
Thanks JWF

waveHello all!
I stumbled on this site a couple of weeks ago while reading a post on www.6066gmcguy.org. Surely wish I'd known about it sooner. I moved to Fletcher, between Asheville & Hendersonville, after retiring as a firefighter.

I'm a GMC'er, having owned a '79 1/2-ton & '89 Jimmy, both 4wd, and am currently having a '63 restored.

I restore older emergency warning equipment for those who are restoring emergency vehicles.

I'll keep tabs on the events and maybe someday come sliding in. Be safe out there!

John, I just added you to my "Southern Stovebolt" list. The TF series trucks are nice ones and already 12 Volt. Good luck and keep us posted...... and a pic when you get a couple.

I get down close to Wilmington fairly regular. My father-in-law lives in Shallotte. In fact we may be down that way in about a week to check on him. Are you close by ?

Where do you live in Raleigh? I'm just off of Ridge Road near Wade ave. Did you have your burb at the classics at the capitol show?

Did not have it at classics at the capital, didn't finally get the car out here till start of October.

Will most likely make it out to the Grill 57 reunion this Saturday though.

will be hard to miss, it's a blue/purple with flames

Fairly new to Stovebolt, too. I live just across I-40 on Hwy 54 (Chapel Hill Rd.) in Cary and recently bought a '41 pickup. No serious restoration intents... just got it for tinkering and fun.

I'm in northern Johnston County, about 5 miles from Wendell. Saw a post about "year of manufacture plates". You do not have to have antique auto tags, according to DMV. The vehicle must be 35 years old or older and you must have current tags and registration in the vehicle and be able to produce them on request.

Joe, thanks for checking in. Good info for you N.C. guys.

pware, vettecrazy, since Shelby seems to be he "center point" we need to plan a day and meet up. Bridges BBQ on 74 or Bridges below the hospital.....or anywhere else will work. Lets try set a day or time. Evenings will definitely work better on Monday's or Fridays but ANY other time will work. Throw a day/date out there and lets get started!

Anyone else close by that wants to jump in let us hear from you. We gonna have a gabfest anyway smile

New Guy here from the Oakridge North Carolina area. I picked up a Chevy 1950 3100 last week that is in remarkable condition. It as been stored since 1995. I have been lurking around the forum for a couple of weeks now. This looks like it is going to be an awesome resource as I am a bit out of my comfort zone with this project. Anybody near me? I am close to Kernersville and the Piedmont Airport. Looking forward to meeting up with some of you. Steve

smoloney, there are quite a few bolters around your area. So many that later this year we...the Southern Stovebolters, are planning a get together down around Mt.Olive at one of the bolters.
I know just where you are. Almost bought a house in Kernersville when I worked at Microfibres in Winston-Salem 03/04.

Keep your eye out on the forums for posters from the N.C. area. They may show up anywhere smile Some post often, some lurk, some may be a little shy but rest assured...they are here!!

Guys like, Les, Kurt, Pete, Brian, woody and the list goes on...

Oh, we have a Bolter get together April 20 in Strawberry Plains, Tenn so check your calendar and watch the events section and our forum here. Check in often. Lots of stuff ALWAYS going on here!!!

EDIT: I just seen your profile and your a print supv. Mmmmm, I spent 37 years printing/dyeing/finishing/knitting/weaving/ rotogravure, rotary screen, silk screen,flex0-graphic.. which is why I was at Microfibres just before my retirement. You familiar with them?

Achipmunk never heard of them, I work at one of the Graphic Packaging plants, we make for the most part cut and stack paper labels and some heat transfer. We do Kraft, Oscar Mayer, Welchs, Abbott Labs. I transferred down to NC 8 years ago from Ohio. Clearly the best thing we ever did LOVE North Carolina
