I found this old 1946 or earliertruck (owner didnt know what it was) for sale and the owners thought it was a 1947.I am picking it up this weekend. They dont have a title,, but it does have a 216 in it ( missing the head) but comes complete as shown,, I think its a 3/4 Ton,( what do you think), and was wondering what everyone thinks it may be worth? Thanks Bill

Although there were a few 1947 "First" series I think it is definitley a 41-46 year model. I'm sure someone will come along that can definitely say for sure. Judging from the inside of the drivers door I think it may be a '41....just my opinion. This style truck is known as Art Deco style. '47 was the Advance Design better known as the AD style.

Hang tight. Someone will be along shortly for sure.

Parking lights are gone, so can't tell there, look at the rear window, if it's held in with a pot metal casting it's 41, if held in with a rubber moulding it's 42 or newer.

Have a look on the cowl and firewall for a metal id tag.

It looks like a 46 1/2 ton to me. The rear window appears to be held in with a rubber gasket, which would make newer than a 41. Also the 3/4 ton would have three stake pockets in the bed.

Someone may come along and prove me wrong but that's the way it looks to me.

Also looks 1/2 ton to me also. In pic #7,The rear drivers fender looks close to the cab like a short bed would have.

Looks like a 42-46 1/2 ton to me.
Look at the passenger door for the lock, should be in the Handle
if it is in the door it is at very least a 42-46 door.
Rear window trim ring inside 13 Screws
Bed has only 2 stake pokets so it's a 1/2 ton.

Can you get some photos of the drive line, rear axle spring mounts, inside of the rear window, side of the bed and the outside of the passenger door.

These should help with the capicity and year.

That'll buff out real good. smile
It's got potential. I suggest you get the title straightened out first.

Is there any significance to 1 wiper above the w/s rather than in the cowl? I don't know very much about Art Deco trucks.

All Art Deco's had the wipers above the windshield. My 46 had 2, not sure if that's common or not.

They put the wiper above the window to allow the windshield to swing out at the bottom.
