I got a 1/8" x 1/8" fitting and the inverted flare side is too big; so I guess I need 1/8 x 5/16 inverted flare? Where can I find the proper one online? Finding this stupid little fitting is driving me nuts at this point! Most oil pressure lines use a 1/8" compression fitting/1/8" pipe male fitting to adapt the small plastic or copper line to the port in the block. There is also an oddball crimp-type fitting with a male thread that's a one-time use thing, but it requires a special adapter fitting to crimp the pointed end of the nut into the tubing on the first installation. After that, the nut stays attached to the oil line permanently.

It is available at any parts store & possibly hardware store. I could probably find the crimp type fitting he is refering to but it would take a few days for you to get it.

Search Ebay Motors for "oil pressure line kit". The fitting you need is an adapter included in the "63-67 Corvette" oil line kit. It screws into a 1/8" pipe female thread and accepts the crimped-on nut that's currently on your oil line. If the nut on your line is bad, the kit contains two new ones, and a piece of 1/8" copper line. That adapter is a very scarce fitting, so don't lose it this time!

Jerry, I normally wouldn't have lost the fitting but the truck was mine first back in 1996 then my dad's and there was a 15 year gap from the time the engine was pulled and rebuilt and this month when I finally installed it and fired it up after I finally convinced him to let me have it so I could get her running. There was pieces everywhere and I had to buy a few missing pieces including these lines. | | |
