For some reason my clutch and brake pedals have started rubbing against the holes that they go through in the cab, and of course make a horrible screeching noise as they go in and out. The brake pedal has gotten so bad that it tends to get stuck unless you use your foot to pull it back out. Is there some kind of adjustment that I can do to center the pedals in those holes, or do I just make the holes larger? I have no idea why this started all of a sudden. Thanks for your thoughts and ideas! Al

Your cab mounts have most likely rusted through.

Or your motor mounts have rotted away.

The pedal assembly is mounted on the frame, not the motor or bell housing. As Cletis said, it is probably your cab mounts.

I reamed the holes out a little too stop it. But they are correct about the body mounts or look too see the floor has a hump in it back toward the seat. also the cowl panel could be rotted.

Thanks guys, I'll check all those things. It sounds like the easiest route may be to just make the holes bigger....it's not a show truck by any means, just something fun to putter around in.

Those pedal shafts can be right near the edge of the hole and a very small change makes them bind. You might have success making the holes larger.

It is a '55 Series 1 Chevy. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my 1st post.

...or there may be times when the bushings in the pedals are worn to much.

Smear a little bit of chassis grease on the shiny part of the pedal shafts. That will quiet the noise and let you regain your sanity so you can get the cab mounts fixed.

Mine rub and stick too. Like these guys said, it's the cab mounts. Mine stick a lot more when I have a passenger.

that would be you're pedal shaft bushings wore out, I had the same problem with my 46 chevy 1/2 ton, I ordered a set of bushings from american classic truck parts for 18.00 and replaced them and cured the whole problem
