Anyone got advice on the best way to convert a 62 C10 to power steering? I'm running a 235. I see some steering box bracket adapters. Often these set ups are for '64 and up.

I tried searching previous postings and didn't find much.

Thanks!!

There are some great tech articles here. Not promoting their product, just good reading material.

Hi Glen,

One of our members, 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks, makes and sells a kit to do just that! Look him up and give him a shout!

Best wishes,

Les

Thanks for the kudos, Roadmarks.

When converting the '60, '61 & '62 Chevy truck, factory six cylinder (235 cid) motors,to power steering, the challenge is locating the correct power steering pump mounting brackets. The 230, 250 & 292 six cylinder power steering pump mounting brackets are not the same and are not interchangeable, for use on the 235 sixes. That will be the challenging assembly to locate.

Our kit is specific for the '63-'66 Chevy truck 230, 250 & 292 six cylinders.

Hmmm... Maybe I can fabricate the brackets. What is now scaring me is finding a 2-groove harmonic balancer for a 235 for under 400 bucks!

I bought 235 PS bracket kit from member Chris Drum: [email protected] and cell is 570-233-1172. Regrettably, I've been distracted by two other projects and haven't installed yet, but the instructions and pix are clear.

Howdy Glen, I also purchased the pump mount from Chris for my 55, I now have a 62 like yours and will need another mount. They are nice parts for the 235, 261 engines.

I've lucked into a '73 steering box with hoses and pump. I would like to use the mount from Chris for my 58-59 235. I've ordered the CPP install kit. With Chris' mount will the pump like up with the existing pulley's so that I can just get a longer belt? Are there any rpm issues betweens the various pulleys? Thanks!
