For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 1 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 1 | I'm glad I found this group! My grandpa's truck has been sitting out in the weather since the late 60's or early 70's. I remember him saying in the late 80's that he thought we could put a battery in it and it would start right up even after sitting for so long. I'm afraid it's going to take a lot more work now. I could tell that he was proud of the reliability of this truck. I told him about 20 years ago that some day I was going to get it running. I guess it's about time I get started. This is how it sits now: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gslate/8077686391/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/gslate/8077700239/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/gslate/8077693503/ It's a '59 GMC and based on some research that I've done, I believe it is a fleet option. I'm not really planning on a restoration at this time. My main goal is to make it run again. I don't know what I'm doing so I may have a lot of questions. Hope you all don't mind too much. Best bet is to be sure to ask the questions in the most appropiate forum for the best results.
Other than the sunshine taking toll on the paint job the GMC looks to be in pretty doggone good shape. I'll bet you'll you'll have that thing running sooner than you think....and if the motor is frozen there are plenty of recipes to get it unstuck!! Good luck, thanks for the pics and keep us posted.
