Can anyone tell me if the square heater cores sold by the usual vendors will fit inside the stock round housing? The original round heater core for my truck is shot and I haven't been able to find a replacement. Seems like a stretch that the square replacements would fit in the round housing but I just thought I'd ask.

well, try to get the soldering technique a little cleaner

you could look for another TF heater version with the rectangle core, like a deluxe - might find a used one that already has a good core

I actually started to make one of those as a replacement but put it on a back burner. I'll give my soldered up original another go now that I've tested it with 20 lbs psi. It was a good idea but I think the copper line is too large. There isn't enough room to solder and align the fins. If/when I try it again I'd use a size or two smaller dia. line and be careful aligning the holes in the fins so things fit snug but free enough to slide around the two lines.
Those were the problem areas I found. Its time consuming but it leaves your wallet a LOT fatter.+

What size copper lines did you use? Do you have pictures?
