Has anyone converted from the floor stomp start to a key start on their 47-53? What key setup did you find to be best?

You could go over to a boating supply place and see what they have. you'll need to figure out whether you want a 2 position or a 3 position switch. Cole-Hersee is still made in Massachussetts, for one brand. The Marine stuff should be better than the Off Shore stuff. Ha, that's pretty funny actually.

Remember you have to change the switch on the starter to a solenoid type too. I bought my dash switch at NAPA.

Thanks for the replys. I do have the starter with the plunger solinoid, so that is fine. My engine is from a 52 chevy and I think the car had a push button start but do not know what they used. I bought my ignition switch at NAPA also. The only problem I found was it doesn't fit real well and rolls around or twists.

I thought someone had changed to a key start and has found a real good key starter or found a way to install theirs. I like to take advice. I did not want to reinvent something that they found works.

if the starter is from a car, I don't think it had a push button, try Chevs of the 40's or Filling Station for a car ignition switch - which looks like the 55-59 truck switch, which would also work if it fits the hole

I have a 58-58 TF switch and it does not fit.

thought you had a NAPA sw? a forklift generic variety? - if the 58 sw is too big, ream out the hole - if it moves around it's cuz there's a ridge on the switch that fits a notch in the dash hole to prevent that and your dash doesn't have it - should be a way to fix that, maybe a piece of sheet metal cut right and put behind the dash?
