Anyone got any advice on getting it off with a 3 ton granny hoist? | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 55 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 55 | I'm not someone that really knows anything, but is it possible to jack up the bed and drive out from under it. Use the hoist to lift the bed then brace it.
Please someone with actual experience comment. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | I cheat, I use my Cat...Are you pulling just the bed or bed and all? I pull just the beds onto another flatbed truck using round fence posts as rollers

Scott I did the same with mine, I'm not re using it so I put it on rollers and pulled it off with a rope attached to another truck. | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 59 | I wish I could have cheated and used a cat. That means without raising the body. Pull the pins from the lift arms and unbolt the hinges or torch off the bolts.
If you must remove the hoist w/ the body it is a little more work but unbolt if possible or torch off all the mounting plates to the truck frame, jack up the rear of the body carefully until you can get a beam under it at the rear. Place the ends of the beams on something very stable like oil drums and them move the the front and repeat the procedure. The beams can be something like oak 4x4's on your little body. once it's up drive or pull the truck away. DON'T forget to remove the hoses, driveshaft and linkage from the pump first!!
Be careful and don't do this alone as accidents do happen. (or are allowed to) It's not difficult if you think it through first. | | |
