I have a 235 in my 1950 pu, the vehicle has the tank behind the seat. I am looking for ideas on a good inline fuel filter set up. It originally had just a brass outlet pipe to an inline filter attached with rubber fuel line using hose clamps. My first concern was it vulnerability to debris hitting this set up. Has anyone used a certain style that could be mounted on the frame?

I have a PermaCool fuel filter and water seperator. It has a cast aluminum mounting base and uses a full size spin on filter. # 81074 and 81794 w/ 1/2 pipe connectors. Get it at Jegs or Summit Racing. It can be mounted on the firewall ahead of the fuel pump.

Do you have any pictures of your installation? Sounds like a great idea for a truck that is not driven all the time. Will our OEM fuel pumps handle this type of filter?

I have a cheapie plastic NAPA filter right after the tank under the cab. It's clear so I can see whats going on post tank, pre pump. The metal line was simply disconnected and the filter attached with clamps and bits of hose and it sits along the frame rail so I'm not worried about anything hitting it.

I have the same set up as Bluemeanie. Works very well. I cut a section from the short rubber hose and installed it there. Easy to see if there is trash in it, and it is very inexpensive. I also used the NAPA plastic clear filter.

Started to take a picture but camera isn't working. I'm sure you can find the info at either of the parts suppliers mentioned.

I am using two inline clear from LMC, one in front of the fuel pump and one before the carburetor. These filters can be taken apart and cleaned plus a replacement element is available. A picture is in the link with my signature.

My tank is under the seat in the 39. I use a sediment bowl that has a clear bowl and a shut off valve that is installed directly into the tank under the cab. The fuel pump also has a clear bowl on it. The under cab one catches everything. I never see any in the fuel pump bowl. With the shut off valve it makes it easy to clean and I never have to buy new filters.

..what rickmg said. I put a small cut off valve on mine coming out of the tank with filter after it. Economical and easy to change without getting fuel running down your arm.

I need to put a valve on mine. Also forgot to mention, I use a glass bowl pump and the first filter keeps the pump bowl clean as new.

I appreciate the responses, you all have given me food for thought and will do the research of what is available locally.
