| | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 97 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 97 | Found the running board paint bubbled the other day after fill up the night before on my 1950 3100 ( Tank is behind the seat). Outer most channel directly under fill cap had 4" long bubble and splitt open ( nothing on the fill neck or the side of the cab). I think it happened because of the heat expanding the gas in the tank. I have been carefull not to overfill ( I listen to the fill and stop early not allowing the pump handle to stop the flow). I have had the running board repainted (They are base coat and clear) but was wondering if this era trucks had problems like this.

I just thought that the filler tube was vented and should have run out. Not thru the cap area. I am just glad that it did not run down the side of the cab because my painter said it would be very difficult to repaint. Show quality paint and can't get between cab and box without box removal. Well I will have to watch it very carefully on fill-ups. And be glad the running board looks as great as it does.

Find one that fits, just inside the gas cap. This will make it snug down on the filler neck, should prevent the slopping over.
