Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 | I decided to install my front window in my 46 using black urethane. I started out with gloves but the stuff was so sticking they weren't working so I took them off. By the time I was done my right hand was covered and my left hand was far behind. Guess what, it doesn't come off. I tried gas, laquer thinner, comet, goo b gone, vegetable oil, various soaps, bascially all my typical tricks, nothing works. I'm an insurance agent and my hands look like I've been working on cars all day. Everyone at works thinks it's pretty funny. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 940 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 940 | Heh. That is kinda funny. I've always layered up a couple pairs of surgical gloves (so you can peel them off layer by layer) and worked with popsicle sticks and tooth pics when using adhesives like that. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 457 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 457 | Thanks for the warning. Try LAVA hand soap. Hope those nasty chemicals don't do more than stain!!!!

It's not so much a stain as it literally turns your skin black. The only thing I have found that works are sandpaper...and waiting for the old skin to fall off & renew. | | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 134 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2009 Posts: 134 | green grass has oils that will help take it off

My hands would be black for days. Nothing I tried would remove the urethane glue. I use urethane in my day job,so I use the layered glove technique too. Mind you the idea is to get the urethane on the vehicle, not your hands in the first place! lol. For the occasions where I do get it on me I wipe straight away with paint shop wipes and use a pumice stone for the dried in stuff. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. I would apply skin oil to my face, wear latex gloves, AND THEN put on rubber gloves. I figured if the paint splatted on my face, the oil would prevent it from sticking to my skin. However, I did not wear a hat. I was looking at my work after about an hour and a half of painting. I had everything put away and rubbed my hand over my head, On the back of my head was dried KBS paint. You know, the stuff that nothing will take off? You have to let it wear off. Well, I got a mirror and looked in a mirror at the back of my head. Sure enough, there were 3 paint splatters. I musta dripped some paint while I was under the frame and then laid my head in the splatter. I got my elecric hair clippers and gave myself a really really really short haircut. I was able to remve the paint after about 48 hours with some body oil and fingernails. Everyone at works thinks it's pretty funny. Yes they did. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 1,847 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 1,847 | I got some of that epoxy you use to set bolts in concrete on my fingers the other day. It took 10 minutes of concentrated effort and hand cleaner to make it let go. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,859 Grumpy old guy playing with trucks, cars, and boats | | Grumpy old guy playing with trucks, cars, and boats Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,859 | use lotion on your hands. it will help loosen the outer layer of skin. because urethane is intended to stick.
