For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 1 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 1 | I am bringing a 1953 3600 back to life. Working to keep the truck roughly stock with bolt-in mods so truck can be returned to pure stock should any future owner have such a whim. I am 6'4" 270. With any other vehicle, I would change the height of the seat supports but this trough type arrangement upon which the seat is perched would seem to prevent height adjustments. I want to hear from as many stovebolters as as can present their seating solutions to fit a larger person into these trucks. Some seats, as in a van, will have a high pedistal while some will have low pedistals.
I've seen pictures where some bolters have used square tubing to "raise" their particular seat and some bolters have used a Van seat and had to cut them down.
Not trying to be funny here but get a bucket, box, crate ect to determine how high/low you want to sit and then head to a scrap yard with your tape measure in hand.
.....oh, Welcome to the stovebolt. Let us know what your experience is and a pic when you can. Of course these probably wouldn't be necessary if I'd lose 50 pounds, but I'm pushed right up against the steering wheel. How thick is the back seat suppose to be? I think the bench seat in my truck isn't original. I'm hesitant to modify the truck's originality. Can anybody point me to seat dimensions - like height, length, width of the various components? | | |
