Took a 4 hr road trip and bought a '51 this morning. I think I got a good deal for less than $1500.
- clean title
- title serial number matches number on door jamb tag
- usual dents and rust
- original radio (will upgrade to electronic)
- original bench seat i think (will swap with 60/40 split)
- bed has a solid steel plate covering planks (not sure what to do with this)
- engine runs and code is hard to read but it looks like a HAM or HEM xxx (will eventually drop in a V8)

I think you did good to. It looks like all those coats of paint may have helped to preserve it. Let us know how we can help.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Thanks for you offer to help as i am sure I will need. I recently completed restoring a 67 Chevelle (also on the photobucket page) so I think I am ok with patch panels, and some light metal work. first thing I have to do is run a subpanel to my garage as I only have 1 outlet. I need 220V to run my compressor and install heater.

I know I will need help on the power train so I have a lot of reading to do. I do not want to re-invent what many have already done. I know I want to drop in a V8 and a manual tranny. So from reading, I hope to figure out what I need to make it happen (what tranny and what rear) and then its a matter of finding it locally.
