For the rafters I'm going to use 2 x 8's and position them closer than 16" on center. 6 x 6 post buried in concrete for support. If 3 or 4 feet of wet snow is going to be normal at my location I have to beef if up a bit......I did get very lucky, the only explination I can come up with is that the roof started to bow down slowly then gave way. My truck barely fit under the roof anyway, it was an attachment to the barn.
