I think this is one of the worst seasons we've had in some time. Personally I lean more towards football.... (the proper one) My own home team Glasgow Rangers have gone into to administration (tax problems) Sad that a club with such history (they're one of the oldest football teams in the world) could possibly 'go the the wall.' So all in all Scottish sport's not doing too well at the moment! On the other hand my truck's coming along quite nicely though,so at least something's working out! 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. The company came good though and air freighted the correct part to me within 5 days. Plus I got to keep the wrong one to sell on. I got 'involved' with a crowd of All Black supporters one time in Edinburgh,I don't think my liver will ever be the same! And they say the Scots can drink...... That's the difference between rugby and football here, rugby fans, regardless of who they support can have a beer and a laugh together. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. If it's what I'm thinking you mean Mapes,I wasn't sure if that was celebrated outwith the U.K. If it is what I think,it's quite a contentious issue here in Blighty. I'm from the 'Orange side of the fence' but don't get involved,it's been the cause of way too much trouble over the years.... Certain factions here use it as an excuse for bigotry and hatred. I don't want to say too much 'cos of the NO religion rules here. Nuff said! 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. Is it legal to run VA USA tags there? Thanks for the kind words Ned, and no, the Va. tags were gifted to me by my friend when I was over in the USA. I just stuck them on for the looks...... I've still to register my truck here and hope to get an age related plate, but because i've swayed away from totally stock I might get what's called a 'Q' plate which tells all the world i've got a truck with uncertain parentage! That's usually the domain of kit cars and one offs. It's based on a points system,if you change out motor, trans, rear end etc,you get the picture. If i can say/prove the mods were done before 1998 i'll get the age related plate. (Might need to get 'creative' there!) Pre-63 plates were usually 3 digit/3 letters, after that we went to an alphabet based system whereas 1963 was suffixed as an 'A' ,a '64 was a 'B' and so on... It's strange though....you make your truck safer to drive on today's busy, overcrowded roads with dual circuit 4 wheel disc brakes, modern R&P steering, better emissions ,and you get penalised for it! There's a stigma that comes with 'Q' plates.

On another note, on a recent ski trip we listened to " A Hithchikers Guide to the Galaxy" which my boys had borrowed from the library..very funny stuff..are you familiar with it? apparently it started as a BBC radio play.
Maybe 42 is the answer to everything. | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Mapes,it's still pretty big here, sadly it's also tenuously linked to football.(soccer) You may already be aware but the two big Glasgow clubs Rangers and Celtic have spent many years trying to rid the game of religious bigots, from both side of 'the divide' who used the 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to spout their bile and hatred. One of the main reasons my Missus and I stopped going. So.....Onto a lighter note, there was a TV series here based on the Hitchhikers guide quite a few years ago. I've never got round to reading the book though, but I really did enjoy the programme. Even if it did have a F*rd(Prefect) as one of the main characters! Hmmmm 42?....You may be right! 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. Newfie Anniversary: George was out shopping at the mall when he met his friend Kevin outside the jewellers. Kevin noticed that George had a small gift-wrapped box in his hand.
"So what've you just picked up, George?" Kevin asks.
"Well, now that you've been asking," replies George, "it's me and the missus' anniversary tomorrow. And when I asked her this morning what she wanted for our special day she said, ''Oh, I don't know, dear, just give me something with a lot of diamonds.'' "So what'd you get her?" Kevin asks.
George replied, smiling,"I bought her a deck of cards."

Paddy and Mick are in the park one day with their kids, who are playing on the swings.
Paddy: Oi could sure merder a point of beer..
Mick: What about the kids?
Paddy: They'll be OK here, the pubs just over the road,we can keep an eye on them from over dere.....
Mick: Hang on oi'll just ask dem,Mick shouts over to his kid, hey Dad is it OK to go with Paddy for a point? The kid nods in agreement.
Paddy: Dat's great but why did you call him Dad?
Mick: Oh,Oi named him after me father!

Good luck with the registration. have you been building the truck to comply with the BIVA test requirements in case the local registration office give you the hard word on an "age related" number plate? | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Thanks Stuart. I've had a look through the ACE site,I can't find anything definative there. I'm maybe just looking in the wrong place! A couple of aquaintances have gone through the registration process recently, one with a TF series truck with a BMW V8,and had no major problems. The guys in the Glasgow DVLA office seem to be pretty reasonable. Here's hoping!
