So I'm trying to get my clutch linkage assembly squared away on my '59 3200 and have a question about the return spring. I have the Build Manual and in that manual it show some kind of mount/bracket that comes off the engine to attach the clutch return spring. My engine does not have that mount/bracket. Does anyone sell this mount/bracket? Or was anyone else in my predicament and thought of another way to attach the spring. Pictures are MOST welcome

not available .... the original was a simple sheet metal piece that attached under one of the pan bolts - it always gets lost, just modify an angle bracket from the hardware store to suit - or hook it anyplace else handy that gives a fairly straight pull - mine currently hooks to a metal strap around the head pipe

For my 56 3100, i just made my own L-bracket that bolted on one of the oil pan bolts. you can bend one on a brake or use a mending bracket from the hardware store - no need for too much precision. you need to add a spacer or a stack of washers to bring up the oil pan mounting surface to become even with the lip (at the base of the bracket). Sorry - i don't have a picture of this.

Thanks for the replies. Per your recommendations I made my own bracket. I think it turned out pretty good, even have a hole for the carburetor rod spring.

I don't know anything about the 55.2 to 59 trucks.The bracket for clutch return spring on an AD truck is on the frame rail close to under the steering box.I think on my models it keeps the spring clear of the exhaust.

I tried to replicate what was in the build manual. I don't have an exhaust installed yet, I hope it won't it won't be in the way of the exhaust.

If it's in your build manual you should be good to go.I can't wait to see it when it's done.

If your referring to the clutch return spring bracket, I posted pics a couple of spot up. Or if your referring to the truck being done, I can't wait either :-)

I saw the bracket you made,looks nice.I was referring to seeing the truck when your done.That engine sure looks nice.

your bracket ended up just like mine - looks great. your spring looks like a generic hardware store spring... there is a replacement one available from the aftermarket.

That's the spring they are selling as a replacement for the clutch return spring for '59. The one you posted looks more correct, i'll pick that one up the next time I place an order with them.

Jim Carter has a bracket that uses the oil pan bolt, but on my engine which is actually a 42, it attaches to the lower end of the vertical linkage return spring. It is stainless steel. No sure if it is the same.
