I keep a gas can in the bed of the truck because I cant get the gauge to work. I installed the wire harness according to the instructions. Does anyone have some idea what I might have missed? My power wire was off the switch, but when I connect it and the key is off, the switch is hot cause the gauge still reads that there is gas in the tank.
I am going to run a jumper wire from the gas gauge to the amp gauge to get power I guess until I figure out why the wire that connects at the switch stays hot with the key off. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | So, the gauge works now? But stays on all the time? You'll have to check the wiring diagram, but I believe the fuel gauge gets it's power from the switched lead on the ign switch- it gets connected to the same terminal that runs out to the coil.
The ammeter is always hot.
Perhaps double check the connections on the back of the ign switch. | | |
