So I made pretty good progress on taking my stuck engine apart. I am down to the camshaft and crankshaft. Pulled both gears! Lifters are all out, head off etc I can not get the cam shaft out!!! Removed the two screws on plate. Tried pipe wrench, but it won't hold! Was able to pry behind the plate a little bit, but little to no movement! Yes- sprayed the cam with lubricant/oil etc! Any ideas? Thanks, Andy | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 334 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2005 Posts: 334 | Hi Andy, Is the distributor out? It engages with the camshaft. The simple way is to drive it out from the back, but the engine has to be removed to do that. It sounds like that engine needs to become a boat anchor and you needd to find a better-condition candidate for a rebuild. Jerry

You should be able to sink the teeth of the pipe wrench into the steel collar. | | |
