old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 25 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 25 | hi just thought you may like to hear about my 1952 chevrolet pickup. I saw this truck on ebay the seller stated new paint new, floor board, cabcorners brakelines, wheel & master cylinders. Therefore I commited to buy, oh yes engine, trans, rear end rebuilt, new tires. Oh boy, I have a lot to learn about fellow man. I borrowed a trailer from a good friend drove over 350 miles one way to get this marvelous truck when I got there it would not start the seller told me the man that looked at it yesterday left the key on run battery down but promised it would start and run great, his wife chimed in and stated she had driven it around town so I accepted thier word the paint was new but they forgot to take the dents out . Keeping my word I paid the man and loaded the truck with a winch and headed home. I have to admit, stand off looked good, up close disaster, this was in July hot in Missouri. I placed it in my shop and began tearing it down went to the local hardware store and bought pound after pound of bolts it seems as if they forgot what they were doing when putting it back together if it called for 5 bolts they may have used 2. After tear down was complete I started sanding hammering and filling dents the more I fixed the more I found. While working on the doors I discovered the wndow roller & channel parts were gone, fender braces were gone and rounding up used parts it not fun. I contacted an old friend who salvaged a 1950 bob truck and bought what parts would fit another friend just got through throwing his check book at his beautiful 1951 show truck so I purchased bed sides an interior parts from him. And after new Windows, interior paint, tires, bed wood I now have a fair looking 1952 chevrolet 3 window cotton chooper special. I say this because as a youth we paid a man to ride to the cotton patch who drove a black truck just like this one he hauled people to and from cotton patches for $10 a day and would even sharpen your hoe one time. I was glad when cotton chopping finely got over, then we picked it by hand the same man hauled everyone to the fields. We could not afford a vehicle back then there were a lot of us back then if I can figure it out I am going to add pictures to this thanks for reading
