Hi! Just checking in with an update. Our Fallen Hero's Dream Ride project is moving along pretty well now. The airbrush artist, Harry Didit, is scheduled to come to St. Louis in March. That's put the pressure on to get the paint done. Check out the progress and new photos at www.fallenherosdreamride.org

The support we have received from this forum has been terrific. Thank you!

We are now planning to "unveil" the truck on Memorial Day. Our artist, Harry, has completed the artwork and everything has been clear coated. I am now in the process of reassembly. I'll be installing the bed today.

You can check our progress on our website. www.fallenherosdreamride.org. For those of you that Facebook, we now have a Facebook page. Please "Like" us: http://www.facebook.com/FallenHerosDreamRide

The Fallen Hero's Dream Ride will be on display Memorial Day at Six Flags St. Louis. Local Marines from the 3/24 will do the flag ceremony at 9:50 a.m. just outside the front gates. The truck will remain there from 9:50 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Discount tickets to Six Flags will be available for $21.95 (regular price is $49.00) Follow the Six Flags link on our website and enter the promotional code "hero". The code will start working on May 24 to May 28. (You don't have to enter the park to see the truck.)

The Historical Vehicle Association has a nice article about our project on their website and e-newsletter. You can read it at: http://www.historicvehicle.org/Latest-News/May-2012/2012/05/08/Remember-The-Fallen

You did a great job building that truck. Sorry you lost your son but that truck and it's mission is something positive that came out of it. I'm proud of you and I'm sure the rest of the members here are too. Congratulations on gettin' 'er done.

Awesome and fantastic. Absolutley a stunning tribute to a fine young soldier and those he served with.

WOW! That turned out incredible! The airbrush artist is top notch and love the integration of the hood separating strip. Great job!

And a sincere "Thank You" to those that serve.

We had a fantastic summer and fall of showing the Fallen Hero's Dream Ride. Most recently it was used for collecting toys for Toys For Tots. In September we did a cross country tour with the destination being Camp Pendleton in California. We made 11 stops on that trip, including Denver, Salt Lake, San Diego, Albuquerque and Oklahoma City. In November we spent several days leading up to Veterans Day in Branson, MO. What a wonderfully patriotic town that is.

Well, now the truck is down for a couple of months for a little R&R. We're looking forward to 2013 with our first big trip planned for Memorial Day in Washington D.C.

We wish everyone a prosperous 2013!

Thank you for giving us an update. I know lots of folks here have followed your story and are proud of the results of the hard work and dedication to do this truck in honor of your son.
Job well done and I'm sure he would be pleased.

Don't know if its on the 2013 schedule but the Marines do a tot for toys and are "in force" at the All Truck Nationals in Kansas City,Missouri about the first weekend in Sept. Its also where we hold our Stovebolt Reunion. It'd be sweet if it were possible to display it in another nice Mo. town.

Again, congrats on such a job well done. We are ever grateful to your son and all the veterans who have served and still keep watch. Thank You.

We had a few events locally as they tried to raise funds for "the moving wall". I tried very hard to find the "decision makers" to make them aware of your truck as it would have been a great addition to their event. You are not all that far away either. It seems that nobody could steer me to who I needed to speek with in time to make any arrangements... Maybe next year.

Sweet,

That would be a great idea. Once the date is set, we can see how many Bolters, et al we can get to show up. I would love to be part of this.

Hard to believe we're coming up on 5 years since unveiling our '51 Chevy 3100, Fallen Hero's Dream Ride .
If you've never seen it, you can view the build video here: FHDR Video
Our mission has shifted from not only one of raising awareness, but also in supporting the children of our fallen through our Dream Riders events. If you're interested we currently have a Grunt Style shirt available here: Dream Riders "Grunt Style" T-shirt
