For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 24 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 24 | I bought a 71 GMC 3500 and "going through" the mechanicals to make it safe etc. Wanted to replce the front flexible brake line hoses. It has disc brakes. Was told the flex line for that truck has been discontinued for years. Called Classic Parts to ask if the 3/4 Chevy line would fit and he said the GMC did not have the same braking systems as Chevy. The line is not leaking so I am not out of a truck. Any sugestions on who to call to see if any are avaialble in the aftermarket. If not, what then....change the spindle and related parts over to a later model? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | Napa catalog shows 36678 &36679 R&L for 71 GMC. It shows the same for Chev. They should be readily available.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 15 | who told you they were discontinued. napa should have those. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | Click!Your not crazy. The only supplier of these lines I have found is through Jim Carters. I only saw them there once and not since. You can find a brake place to custom make the hose, but they don't use the rounded heads with the tab where the banjo bolt goes through. this may require you to take a grinder to the caliper for them to actually fit. Maybe Jim Carter carries them again. Jeff | | |
