Is it true that a gas tank from the 3100 will not fit the 6400 cab? I sure need a tank and the vendor I spoke with assured me the 1/2 ton tank will not work in my truck. Any ideas are welcomed. jc

your manual shows, all in cab tanks are the same size, is yours in the cab?

I installed a fuel tank from a 1951 Chevrolet 3100, in a 1952 Chevrolet 6400 several years ago, for my brother. Same identical tank. Vendors are usually the last people to ask Tech. questions. All they do is sell parts.

Well, I argued that the cab is identical. She insisted she had sold one for a 6400 previously and it did not fit. Easy enough, Spanky. I'll give it a go. Yes, Bill. It is in the cab. jc
