I recently picked up the rubber for the barn door seals on my '51 suburban. I guess I got tired of the metal bangin' on metal.

Was curious as to any tips or tricks of putting it on. I assume I need to use some kind of glue, and clean the paint and rust real good

Any advice?

Thanks,

Kurt

From your post seems like your on the right track. Assuming your not planning on painting your doors in the near future? Clean up the area for the weatherstrip, and I've always used 3M weatherstrip adhesive. I'd use the "clear" or "black" color cause the yellow really shows up. It will tack up and dry fast, leave your doors open overnite.

Kurt, patience is the word. Take your time and don't get in a hurry. A small section at a time worked for me. Good luck.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Alvin,

Are you saying, put a little glue on, stick a few inches on put some more glue on and so forth?

I 'll look for the 3m glue.

That's what I did and it turned out good.

Kurt, yes, a little at a time. On a good run maybe 12" at one time but "check twice, glue once". It'll come out nice. I used the black on mine and cleaned any excess as I went. Take your time. The rear doors are a little tricky around the "latches/catches/guides". Good luck. Let us know how you make out with it. Be sure to take a couple snap shots.
