Anyone here ever get screwed from a stovebolt swap meet section ad? I sent money for a grill and bumper November 3rd and had some contact over the phne with the seller. I have no parts and bunch of excuses from the seller. Now he wont return emails or answer my calls. Guess I will have to start lookng for a 55-57 2 ton grill and bumper again.

I've been screwed once by a new, one-time Swap Meet seller who was flaky from the start. The moderator excused his sketchy listing, after I reported it. Another member then purchased the item for me.

The item was not what was advertised (wrong year radio for wrong brand of truck). The seller deleted all PMs and did not respond to email. The seller hit-and-ran - he deleted all posts and has not been seen since that first sale/posting.

Let the buyer beware.
Get all transaction information/promises in email.
Only send payment by check and to a proper address (not a PO Box).

I don't want to post up any names until I am sure I got screwed but it sure feels like it at this point. I saw lots of replys to the ad and other ads where people had gotten their parts so I figured I was safe. I will let it go on for a couple more weeks but then I will post a buyer beware comment.

...it does happen. I've been bitten once about 4 years ago but once in over 10 years I guess is not to bad. Tim gives some good advice. Buyer beware unless you have dealt with someone before. Other than that one time, the Stovebolters rock.
I've sent many items before payment and the bolters have always come through. Sorry you had this experience but I'm sure you have learned well..... and so did I.

Maybe you could ask a local Stovebolter to drop in on the seller unannounced and pick the parts up for you.

I got a phone call tonight after not hearing anything for about 2 weeks. My parts are on the way and I have tracked the shipment to make sure it was true. I guess the not so nice voice mail I left last night did something. He was very apologetic and claimed this is not how he does business usually. I will not buy from him again that's for sure. It appears to of all worked out. I was just so mad I needed to vent.
