You have the early style sway bar. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Jim Carter sells two styles of bushing kits for 1947-55 Advance-Design Chevrolet sway bars. 1947 to early 1951 late 1951 to 1955 http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/index.asp?sdes=sway%20bar%20bushingThe sway bar assembly at the links in the first post does not look like the later Advance-Design sway bar. However, I cannot see enough detail in the photos to be able to tell if Jim Carter's bushings for earlier A-D trucks might work in that sway bar. Do you have a GMC or Chevrolet truck? The sway bars are different. I do not know if the GMC bushings are different from those used on Chevrolet truck sway bars. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 | | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 | when i got my 54 it was on there so im going to leave it | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | No problem. Just make sure you get the right rubber bushings.

You need to figure out what type or model of sway bar you have.It might make finding the bushings easier .

The early style mounts the bar to the front of the crossmember and the end links hook to plate where the front springs mount. The later style bar mounts to brackets that mount underneath the crossmember and the end links hook to brackets that clamp around the front axle. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 1,660 Curmudgeon | | Curmudgeon Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 1,660 | I don't mean to hijack this topic. Achipmunk and tclederman my 54 3100 sway bar looks like your pictures. I also am looking for replacement bushings especially the ones at the axle clamp. It's a bushing, with inner steel sleeve, that the pin goes through.
