I don't know if they would have the firewall clearance you need but I would want to take a look at the log style manifolds originally used on 55-56 autos. I suspect something like that was used in the original V8 powered 55/2 pickups.

ramshorn manifolds are what was original for the TF V8 and work as well as any headers ..... maybe you have a bunch of valves adjusted too tight and not closing?

no difference , you know its almost like if I leave the rocker nuts very loose i start to develop compression , but if i go by the book 1/2 turn tighter after snug , no compression whatsoever on any cylinder , what could cause this , do I need shorter pushrods or perhaps the piston rings are at suspect , HELP?

If you are using the old lifters they are probably sticking in the top position. Adjust the valves so you just take up the slack & leave about 2-5 thousands clearance. Go ahead & start it up when you are ready. After it warms up a bit start adjusting them down one at a time with the engine running. At first it will miss & then settle down. If so go ahead & adjust it down about a quarter turn. If they wont settle down go ahead and adjust them to 5 thousands. It will run OK that way but make a little noise. You might try again after you run it awhile. If you want to be perfect you will need to replace the cam & lifters.
If you already put in new lifters then you are adjusting them from the bottom of the travel.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Sounds like the cam is out of time with the crank, maybe,
