I cant beleive they used plastic as a bushing. Blaster probalbly saved a couple of other bolts. Tomorrow remove twisted off bolts and clean out cab, you gotta love working on these old gems.

What a pain to drill out....had to tap it deeper and will get a longer bolt. Got that done and called it a night. Been shopping for wood for my bed and today I bought CYPRESS boards. Oak is to spendy for me right now and the yellow pine I am concerned about warping. Have local sawmill that sells log homes http://www.thriftloghomes.com/Went out and talked with owner today. Got all the 2 yr. air dryed lumber I needed then asked to have it planed to 3/4" thick. $75 out the door for those that want to DIY. Your mileage may vary but for me I have more time than $$ so this will work out good. Will stain with darker log home stain to bring out grain, highlight the honey hues and protect it from moisture. Decided to install only one turn light on the dash. With that and the high beam indicator on the dash I have finished all work under the dash. Getting close to the finish line.

Most of the trucks I see at the cruise ins are Stainless. Thinking of going with steel painted same as truck. Not sure of color scheme tho as it is early in the game. What do you like to see? I plan on keeping this rig stock with basic safety upgrades.

Looking at the design on the orginal, I'm suprised it lasted as long as it did. Also replaced the gas cap (old one was leaking after a fill. No major projects until spring. I used Peel & Seal ofor fender welting, worked great and was one of the easier projects I have done thus far on my truck. I had wired them under the seat and today put the seat in and tried to run the lead to the fuse box. A bang and a flash told me something was not well under here. It seems I have a pesky ground somewhere. My son will be coming over soon to help me pull the seat out so I can check it out.

And an oil change after the holliday stop and go driving. Got the remote controller from pep boys for about 30 smackers and was supper simple to install. Has a built in relay, and has a good range On the remote (About 80 feet id say). If any of you want more info on it let me know!

I also made a panel to hold the airspring temporary inflation valves until I get a proper control system.(More $$$!)

Got all the bolt holes cleaned out and bought new grade 8 bolts with lock washers to mount my recently acquired. 3 speed transmission. The internal rust within the hinge assembly prevented it
from opening enough to get a screwdriver on the upper screws to the window frame. I finally had to break down and cut the heads off. Next challenge: removing the studs from the frames without hurting anything.

Today I ordered misc parts - axle dust caps, shock mounts & shocks etc.
Can't wait to get it back to gether & go crusin.
1949 chev 3100 3 window. 350hp/327/m21 4 spd, 12 bolt rear, power brakes, 3" dropped axle from Sid's. Disc brakes next.
