Has anyone had any experience with new reproduction door hinges. I bought a set because mine were in bad shape. I put them on to try and fit the doors but the holes seem to hold the door to the rear too far. It seems that all of the hole slots are off by at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I am wondering if it is better to find a set of old hinges and rebiuld them. Thanks for any help.

I believe it is better to rebuild the hinges. There is some good advise on the Stovebolt forums.

I've read MANY unhappy stories about repop door latches but not the hinges..... but that don't mean anything except I have not heard any!

A set rebuilt correctly is as good as any repop hinge....in my opinion.

I rebuilt all of my door hinges. The pins are available at your local Chevy/GM dealership.

The hinges on my truck need some work. The springs on both upper hinges is broken. I was planning to rebuild my hinges and replace the springs. Rebuilding the hinges will be a major job. I'd like to see more input on buying after market hinges versus rebuilding the original hinges.

All my springs were missing.. THe driver side upper hinge pin was half way out of the hinge and i had to take the cowl panel off and cut the pin to get the hinge out. The passenger side upper pin was broke in three pieces.. Mine were pretty bad.. All i did was heat em up red hot and knocked the pins out. Then i sandblasted, drilled them out, painted and reassembled them.. Prolly around 30 minutes of work to each one.. I spent 20 bucks for all 4 hinges.. I am very pleased how it came out and there is no play at all in the hinges. I would do it again over buying new hinges.. theres my 2 cents worth..
