My name is Dan. I recently bought a 1941 GMC 3/4 ton that turned out to be a 46. It drives. It stops. The guy I got it from did a ton of work to it. This is the blog he started about his truck.

http://1941gmctruckproject.blogspot.com/

Since I got the truck I have done some work on it. I did some basic body work just to make it a little more presentable. Sande of some surface rust that was coming up where the primer was too thin. Since its almost a solid driver I want to mess with it before I tear it apart and restore her. I drove it to pick up my son from elementary school, and was the hit of the parking lot. Its nice to hear people from 50 yards away saying that they love that truck over there.
This site has already helped me get started on finishing the 12 volt conversion that was started. I fell like I got a grate truck for what I paid. I'm not sure if I should say. It came wit receipts for over 4000 dollars worth of parts a service. New clutch brakes gas tank. Too much to list. I took the visor off. I don't want it and plan on selling it. I don't know what its worth, but ebay has a way of figuring that out.

I was wondering how may 1946 3/4 ton trucks are left in the world? How rare is my truck? They made less than 3000 I think. Anyone here have a clue?

Here's a link to a picture. I'll have a couple more later.

I love the Art Deco trucks. Welcome to the Bolt, and keep us posted on your progress.
P.S. I think you did the right thing by taking that visor off! dance thumbs_up

Dan,
Great looking truck. I have the other end of that series: a 1946 Chevrolet 2-ton that, at this point, does not look 1/2 as good as yours but every day I do something to bring it back to life. I'll have some bragging pics but
not before next summer if it rains, as per usual, her in
Portland, OR. Anyway, good for you! Welcome. This site takes the prize for helpful and very knowledgeable guys who WILL answer any question you may have. Just dig all through it. LevisPop
